We're Hiring a Program Coordinator!


The Program Coordinator will be responsible for a broad range of administrative tasks that support UpBeat’s programmatic and back office and operations. Tasks will include:

  • Supporting the Co-Directors in the planning and implementation of all aspects of the program

  • Supporting a cohort of music teachers and coordinating their teaching schedules for students, and coordinating faculty meetings.

  • Communicating regularly with 90+ program participant families

  • Suggesting or supporting teacher-led improvements to achieve the learning objectives

  • Coordinating enrollment, registration and reregistration process

  • Overseeing communications amongst program stakeholders to ensure collaborative and timely goals.

  • Monitoring classes, attendance, and family follow-ups.

  • Conducting regular check-ins with families

  • Supervising a program assistant and/or intern

  • Data entry and database management

  • Assisting with logistical and production arrangements for workshops and performances on Zoom and, eventually, in person

  • Creating email correspondence and social media posts and maintaining UpBeat's website

  • Assisting grant and individual giving efforts

  • Light bookkeeping assistance

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in the field of music strongly preferred

  • Bilingual in Spanish/English required

  • 2 years' experience working in an arts administration setting

  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Zoom, Apple iWork, Microsoft Office, Slack and Salesforce

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, flexibility with different constituents, and team skills

  • Ability to problem-solve and take initiative

  • A proactive, detail-oriented approach to job responsibilities

  • Enthusiasm for UpBeat NYC’s mission and values including a strong interest in community building and social justice


This is a part-time position and will include normal business hours and after-school hours as well as occasional evening and weekend hours to support special events.


All programming is currently remote and the Program Coordinator position is temporarily a fully remote position. Once in-person programming resumes, the Program Coordinator will work both remotely and at UpBeat NYC’s program sites in the South Bronx.


Hourly rate will be commensurate with experience.
