PART-TIME ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
UpBeat NYC is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization providing free music programming to South Bronx children and youth. UpBeat NYC uses the pursuit of musical excellence and ensemble performance to bring about positive change in the lives of South Bronx children.
The Administrative Assistant will be responsible for a broad range of administrative tasks that support UpBeat’s back office and programmatic operations. Tasks will include:
- Assist directors with correspondence and scheduling
- Liason between directors and teaching staff
- Data entry and database management
- Assist with grant management
- Email correspondence
- Intern supervision and guidance
- Communications with program participant families
- Event planning and coordination
- Light bookkeeping
- Requirements & Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or college undergraduate preferred
- Bilingual in Spanish/English highly preferred
- Non-profit administrative experience preferred
Strong organizational skills
Excellent writing skills
Excellent computer skills
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and team skills
Interest in development, grant writing and fundraising a plus
Ability to problem-solve and take initiative
A proactive, detail-oriented approach to job responsibilities
Ability to complete work well, remotely, with limited supervision
Enthusiasm for UpBeat NYC’s mission and values including a strong interest in community building and social justice
This is a paid part-time position (20-30 hrs/wk). The schedule will be determined with input from the hired candidate and will include normal business hours, afterschool hours and occasional evening and weekend hours to support special events.
UpBeat NYC offers flexibility. Work can be completed both at home and at UpBeat NYC’s program sites in the South Bronx.
Hourly rate will be commensurate with experience.
