The Clemente and the Latinx Arts Consortium of New York (LxNY) are thrilled to announce CRUCES: Youth Summit, a daylong forum celebrating the next generation of storytellers, culture bearers, movement builders, and the youth programs that inspire them.

Hosted by MoMA’s Public Engagement Department, the Summit brings together youth, Latinx educators, and cultural leaders from across New York City for a vibrant day of presentations, performances, workshops, and networking.

Participating organizations include: Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute (CCCADI), Flushing Town Hall, Teatro SEA, Calpulli Mexican Dance Company, The Center for Urban Pedagogy (CUP), Pregones / Puerto Rican Traveling Theater, R.Evolución Latina, YA-YA Network, The People’s Theater, LxNY, El Puente, and UpBeat NYC.

We are excited to announce that UpBeat musicians will present this Wednesday, June 4th in Central Park as part of the NY Philharmonic Free Summer Concert Series. Please join us at 6pm to hear UpBeat NYC String Ensemble’s exciting performance of Aldemaro Romero’s “Fuga con Pajarillo”.

Other presenting music education partner organizations will include the Bloomingdale School of Music and Talent Unlimited High School.

Audiences entering the park from 6-7:30 PM will enjoy performances by community partner youth ensembles from across NYC. Join our celebration of creative young voices!

At 8pm, Gustavo Dudamel, who becomes the Oscar L. Tang and H.M. Agnes Hsu-Tang Music & Artistic Director Designate in September, leads the Orchestra in cornerstones of the repertoire by Tchaikovsky and Stravinsky alongside vibrant music by Arturo Sandoval and Gonzalo Grau. The Orchestra’s annual free concerts across New York City feature trumpet virtuoso Arturo Sandoval and cuatro master Jorge Glem, a special appearance by guitarist and former NY Yankee Bernie Williams — and post-concert fireworks!
