2012 Spring Benefit Concert
Our first benefit concert was held on February 20, 2012 at Christ and St. Stephens at 120 West 69th Street in Manhattan. The event was produced by the wonderful Paul Dunkel and proceeds benefited UpBeat NYC as well as Music from Copland House.
It was the first time most of the kids had played outside their neighborhood in Mott Haven and many were quite nervous. Some reported butterflies in their stomachs as they watched the audience numbers grow and grow. They did a beautiful job and the crowd offered exuberant ovations! The kids performed an improvised soundpainting piece led by one of our violinists and fun arrangements of Hot Cross Buns and Oye Como Va.
